In the past couple of weeks, a delegation consisting of Jostein Bakke, Siri Tungland, Thomas H. Thuesen and Jarle B. Sleire have been travelling to three new departments in order to spread the word about the national iEarth consoritum in order to incorporate the remaining geoscience community in Norway!
Even tho the SFU scheme (Senter for fremragende utdanning / Centre for Excellence in Education) has been shut down, iEarth have no intentions in slowing down the efforts to revolutionize teaching and learning in the geosciences. We have now visited three potential candidates to join the iEarth consortium with the latest being the Department of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences at the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) in Sogndal.
On wednesday the 21st of May, Siri, Jostein, Jarle and Thomas drove to Sogndal in order to pitch the idea of iEarth and the way forward for the network. The presentation followed with interesting discussions and much engagement from the geoscientists present at the meeting.
